Just as the Holy One, blessed be He, chose the People of Israel to cause His Divine Presence to dwell within them, so too He chose the Land of Israel, Jerusalem, the Temple Mount, and the Holy Temple as the place for His Divine Presence to dwell and through which His light shines to the entire world.
Even while asleep, a Jew in the Land of Israel is keeping a mitzvah – the commandment which the Sages consider equal in weight to all the other commandments in the Torah. How many millions and millions of mitzvot a Jew in Israel performs in his or her lifetime just by dwelling in the Land! Can there be a joy greater than this?
This same strategy is being used by the forces of evil today, via the immoral Greek/Western culture which has engulfed the world and entered into Jewish homes like a Trojan Horse everywhere, with the very same goal of defiling the Jewish People, and severing our holy connection to Hashem, may the Almighty have mercy.
The meaning is not that wisdom, might, and wealth are negative in themselves, but that one should not glory in them alone. Rather, one should glory in them when they serve the knowledge of God; when wisdom, strength, and wealth are directed for the sake of Heaven.
The day is not far when the spark of “truth and faith” and holiness will utterly consume our enemies forever, as it is written: “And all wickedness will be consumed like smoke.”
