Jewish Philosophy: feminism

Feminism states that men and woman are the same!

However, Judaism states that men and woman are equal, but not identical. Equality doesn’t necessarily mean sameness. The basic difference between women and men is that the nature of woman represent completeness and men represent the tendency to be complete. This is one of the reasons that women do not need a Brit Milah, whereas men are required to have a Brit Milah, in order to “complete” themselves, and as a symbol of the work they have to do spiritually in this world. Women need to strive for perfection as well, yet are born with the innate tendencies of completeness and are more holistic in general.

Marriage unites the two, and creates the future of the complement and synthesis between the genders. In other words, the being born with completeness and the being born who needs to be completed will unite.
