Galut weakness necessitates approach of fear and defense against outside, threatening influences, distancing from the physical, natural, secular aspects of the world which are seen as opposing forces to Torah and spirituality. Different approach in Eretz Yisrael when central life force, the Neshama, strong and encompasses all and uplifts all. What happens when Torah scholars are not aware of and therefore do not utilize the unique advantage of Eretz Yisrael – not only don’t rise and acquire additional spiritual advantage Eretz Yisrael offers but also seem to lose what they had before.
